Our Services

Rite of Passage’s services span the full continuum of care and include non-residential mentoring and tracking programs, shelter care, group homes, academy model programs, detention and secure facilities. We are liscenced and accredited. We operate a nationally acclaimed program with a successful 20-year track record serving at-risk youth with multiple needs.

Mentoring and Tracking The Mentoring and Tracking program incorporates assessment, assistance and monitoring by age appropriate and culturally matched role models. Staff supervises the youth’s activities and accomplishments through setting weekly goals, objectives and schedules and ultimately verifies progress through constant contact.

Shelter Program  Short-term emergency shelter programs are available in selected areas for male youth who have been victims of abuse, abandonment or neglect. Some youth may also have demonstrated runaway behavior or delinquent acts. Caring staff members provide a safe, nurturing and secure environment within small cottage groups.

Group Homes Rite of Passage operates group homes in multiple states, with a capacity between six and fifteen youth.  Group homes allow youth to mainstream into the community and learn to cope with real-life expectations including developing a work ethic and independent living skills.

Academy Model Programs  Rite of Passage’s Academy Model is administered as a cognitive-behavioral, strengths-based program, utilizing a restorative justice approach. We provide a model for group living through demonstrating respect, tolerance, and the giving and receiving of feedback. Students are required to meet high standards of academic, vocational, behavioral and athletic accomplishments.

Detention Secure detention services are provided for male and female youth who are ordered held on pretrial status or are sentenced to secure detention.  Within this secure environment, the facility is programmatically rich and helps develop pro-social attitudes and behaviors in delinquent youth while ensuring public safety.

Secure Programs Rite of Passage operates multiple secure programs tailored to the needs and potential of incarcerated young men or young women. All program services are offered in an accepting environment that balances structure and accountability with care and compassion.  In the secure facilities for females, Rite of Passage has created female responsive program elements.

Transition/Independent Living Following residential/institutional placement, youth receive transitional services designed to empower them to live independently and transition back into their communities successfully. Youth demonstrate competencies in independent living, education/vocational training, job placement and family systems. All services are provided in collaboration with the youth’s parole officers, parents and community resources.
